CAMDEN — The seventh Annual Pop!Tech Conference returns at 8:30 this morning at the Camden Opera House. The event, which seeks to examine modern technology’s impact on society, continues from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Among the topics this year’s gathering will discuss are biotechnology, nanotechnology, the hydrogen economy, globalization and the future of design. The program will be moderated by Dr. Moira Gunn, host of National Public Radio’s “Tech Nation.”
Speakers this year include: Constance Adams, spacecraft architect; Geoffrey Ballard, father of the fuel cell; Tom DeMarco, scientist and author; Juan Enriquez, author of “As The Future Catches You”; Graham Hawkes, deep-sea explorer and inventor; Scott Hunt, former E*Trade executive and author of “The Future of Peace”; James Kunstler, urban theorist, author and cultural critic; Bob Metcalfe, inventor of Ethernet, founder of 3Com; John Sculley, co-founder of InPhonic; Kevin Sites, CNN correspondent; Sally Stansfield, director of Global Health Strategies, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; and Michael West, cloning expert.
