The pastor of a Newburgh church was summoned Thursday morning after he allegedly admitted he used a former employer’s credit card to buy hundreds of dollars’ worth of diesel fuel.
Bangor police Officer Martin McCrea reported that he summoned Brent Trueworthy, 55, of Brewer for theft by deception after Trueworthy admitted making four purchases at the Main Street Irving filling station using a credit card belonging to Vaughn Thibodeau & Sons Corp., a general contractor based in Bangor.
Representatives from the company had come to the station Wednesday, reporting that someone had been using the company card without permission, McCrea said.
One of the complainants said the filling station where the purchases were made had shown him video footage from Oct. 5, showing a man he recognized as Trueworthy buying diesel fuel there for a freight tractor.
The complainant told McCrea that Trueworthy had not worked for the company in years. The diesel fuel purchases were estimated at $436.
McCrea said Trueworthy came to the station Thursday morning to speak with McCrea. Trueworthy allegedly admitted he had used the card four times in the previous month, but said he thought it wouldn’t be a problem with the company, expecting it would bill him.
Trueworthy’s court date is Nov. 14.

Feero said the alleged assailant, Heath Chapman, 30, of Brewer, had left before they arrived. Chapman returned later and was arrested by an officer waiting at the home.
