DOVER-FOXCROFT – The undefeated Ponies scored 25 first-quarter points en route to their seventh high school football victory, a 45-7 defeat of Maranacook of Readfield Friday night.

Quarterback Josh Withee opened the scoring on a 7-yard run. Lincoln Robinson followed with a 1-yard touchdown run, Cody Libby scored from 3 yards out and Withee connected with Bobby Gilbert on a 31-yard touchdown pass.

The Ponies, who pulled their starters in the second half, kept rolling in the second quarter as Gilbert ran for a 15-yard TD and Max Kennedy followed with a 14-yard scoring run. Jesse Lewis finished the scoring with a 5-yard TD run.

Withee completed 7-of-9 passes for 185 yards and Gilbert had 44 yards on five carries.

Sean Labbe scored in the fourth quarter for the Maranacook of Readfield Black Bears on a 37-yard punt return.

At Lincoln, Mardy Simon ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to carry the Red Riots to victory.

Simon threw a 15-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to Joe Simon. Mardy Simon then came back in the third quarter to score on a 1-yard run.

Simon finished the scoring in the fourth quarter when he rushed into the end zone from 31 yards out. Ryan Levesque added two points on two conversion kicks.

Brewer 16, Leavitt 7

At Turner, touchdown runs by Chris Noyes and Andy Frost gave the Witches a 14-0 lead and they held the Hornets to a single score en route to the win.

After a scoreless first quarter, Noyes put the Witches on the board with a 20-yard run in the second quarter. The PAT kick was blocked.

Andy Frost notched Brewer’s second TD with a 10-yard run. Court Rancourt rushed for the two-point conversion.

Ben Boulay’s 2-yard run and Duane Gilbert’s PAT kick cut the margin in half, but Gilbert was forced to run out of the end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

At Millinocket, Matt Barnett scored two touchdowns and Derek DiFrederico threw for one and ran for another to pace the Minutemen past Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Barnett ran in from 15 yards out in the first quarter and a yard out in the second quarter for Stearns. DiFrederico passed to Craig Cullen for a two-point conversion after the second TD.

Jonathon Smith ran back the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for the Huskies’ first score. Jake Lasselle kicked the PAT.

Matt Legassey, who finished with four catches for 74 yards, then caught a 9-yard TD pass from DiFrederico with Tyler Pelkey kicking the PAT.

Smith returned a fumble 20 yards in the third quarter for MCI’s final TD, with Lasselle converting again to trim the lead to seven points, but DiFrederico’s 15-yard run in the fourth quarter gave the Minutemen an insurance score.

DiFrederico finished 7-for-16 for 110 yards passing and 12 carries for 43 yards rushing, and Barnett picked up 51 yards on 13 carries and 2 TDs. Stearns finished with 311 yards of total offense.

Smith’s 19 carries for 49 yards were nearly half of MCI’s 105 yards of total offense.

At Skowhegan, senior fullback Phil Warren rushed 23 times for 117 yards and a touchdown as Brunswick earned its sixth straight victory.

Warren scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter, and Ralph Mims caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Justin Clark late in the second period to account for the game’s only scoring.

Mims, who played quarterback throughout the game except on the play in which he scored, rushed nine times for 77 yards for the 6-1 Dragons.

Mt. Blue 41, Lawrence 20

At Fairfield, senior quarterback Garrett Lake threw for four first-half touchdowns as visiting Mt. Blue moved into a tie for second place in the Pine Tree Conference Class A North Division.

Mt. Blue is now tied with Skowhegan, both 5-2 and one game behind 6-1 Bangor. The Cougars host Skowhegan in their regular-season finale at Farmington next Friday night.

Lake completed a pair of 21-yard scoring strikes to Nate Bolduc, a 45-yarder to Pete Tinguely and a 6-yard TD pass to Matt Tripp as Mt. Blue moved out to a 28-7 halftime lead.

At Oakland, Danny May scored a pair of touchdowns as host Messalonskee improved its record to 3-4.

May returned a kickoff 86 yards for a score and added a 34-yard touchdown run for the Eagles, who spotted Waterville a 7-0 lead and then ran off 21 unanswered points.

Bryan Prelgovisk added Messalonskee’s other score on a 2-yard run.

Anthony Jabar paced 1-6 Waterville with touchdown runs of 80 and 78 yards. Andrew Livingston scored on a 77-yard pass from Kevin Scott.
