Luscious lobster

They came. They cooked. They conquered. And when it was all over, chef William Clifford of The Daily Catch in Boothbay Harbor walked away with $1,000 and the right to call himself the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year. Clifford’s recipe for Maine Lobster “Risotto” with Orzo, Herbs and Chunky Vegetables won top honors in the Great Taste of Maine Lobster Governor’s Tasting and Culinary Competition, held last Wednesday at the Blaine House in Augusta. John Arsenault of the Down-East Village Restaurant in Yarmouth won a silver medal and the people’s choice award for his Mediterranean Lobster Toss with Linguine and Lisa Wood of Sisters Restaurant at Eggemoggin Reach in Little Deer Isle took the bronze medal for her Maine Lobster and Goat Cheese Stuffed Shells. Looking for a sweet way to tote Halloween goodies to your child’s school? Tupperware’s One Touch serving bowl set is just the trick for treats. The black bowls decorated with whimsical candy corn designs keep snacks fresh and festive. A set of two costs $16.99. They are available at the Tupperware shops in the Airport Mall and the Bangor Mall or online at www.tupperware.com.

Eye candy

They may look a little gross, but these eyeball truffles from Divine Delights are ghoulishly good. The assortment includes Gianduya (milk chocolate and roasted hazelnuts), classic bittersweet, mellow mint, and praline peanut centers covered in white chocolate. They cost $28.95 per dozen and are available at www.divinedelights.com or by calling (800) 4-HEAVEN.
