SEARSPORT – Sarah Colbath and Ashley Dawson each scored unassisted goals as the No. 8 Penobscot Valley Howlers upset the No. 1 Searsport Vikings 2-1 in an Eastern Maine Class C quarterfinal Friday.
The Vikings were the defending state champions.
Jenn Plourde made 15 saves on 32 shots for 7-8-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland.
Jessica Wilson tallied an unassisted goal for 13-2 Searsport. Mo Hall stopped 12 of 17 shots.
Houlton 2, Schenck 1
At Houlton, Amie McPartland and Claire Thompson scored a goal apiece as the No. 2 Shiretowners edged the No. 10 Wolverines of East Millinocket.
Anna Lenentine had six saves on seven shots for 10-4-1 Houlton.
Courtney Martin provided a goal for 6-9-1 Schenck. Megan Carey stopped 16 of 18 shots.
GSA 3, Woodland 1
At Blue Hill, Rachael Wardwell scored on a penalty kick and assisted on a goal by Simone Crowe to help the No. 4 Eagles top the No. 5 Dragons.
Winslow Brokaw added an unassisted goal for 9-3-3 George Stevens. Sam Haskell and Liz Tyler combined to make five saves on six shots.
Erica Brown netted a goal for 10-3-2 Woodland with an assist by Tiffany Wormell. Lauren Troiani stopped 19 out of 22 shots.
Madawaska 2, Penquis 1 (PKs)
At Milo, Michelle Lavertu contributed the game-winning penalty kick to lift the No. 6 Owls to the upset over the No. 3 Patriots.
Kelly Chasse added a goal and Ashley Cyr an assist for 9-6-1 Madawaska. Elizabeth Laplante stopped eight out of 14 shots.
Erin Beasley scored off a Kate Hamlin pass for the 11-4 Patriots. Michelle Mulherin stopped 17 of 21 shots.

Van Buren 1, Katahdin 0
At Van Buren, Megan Lajoie scored the game-winning goal off a Kari Ouellette assist one minute and two seconds into the game as No. 3 Van Buren edged No. 6 Katahdin.
Lisa Levasseur stopped all three shots that she faced for 11-1-3 Van Buren.
Clarrisa Gallagher made nine saves on 18 shots for the 7-7-2 Cougars of Sherman Station.
Lee 7, Hodgdon 0
At Lee, Shelby Pickering knocked in five goals and assisted on another as the No. 1 Pandas rolled.
Jody Worster notched a goal and assist for 15-0 Lee. Marcy Moors chipped in a goal and Ashley Gifford two assists. Jackie Moors and Amy Lane had seven saves on eight shots between them.
Collette Sloat stopped 10 of 22 shots for the No. 8 Hawks (9-7).
Greenville 3, Shead 0
At Greenville, Hannah Breton knocked in two goals and assisted on another as the No. 2 Lakers blanked the No. 7 Tigerettes.
Lauren Dallam added a goal and Kristen Sutherland and Kahla Lander assists for 14-0-1 Greenville. Beth Bartley had five saves on seven shots.
Brittany Cox stopped five out of 13 shots for Shead 10-6-1 of Eastport.
Class A
Bangor 1, Morse 0
At Bangor, Ilyse Angst stopped all six shots she faced to propel the No. 4 Rams into the semifinal round.
Jessica Tweedie scored the game’s lone goal off a pass from Caroline Larson for 13-1-2 Bangor.
Janel Thomas made 18 saves on 19 shots for the No. 5 Shipbuilders of Bath (10-3-3).
Mount Ararat 5, Hampden 0
At Hampden, Erika Stupinski scored four goals to help No. 7 Mount Ararat upset No. 2 Hampden.
Kyla Woodhouse scored a goal and notched two assists for 12-3-1 Mount Ararat of Topsham. Emie Theberge, Christie Rogers, and Jennifer Charette each had an assist. Jessica Stahl made 13 saves on 17 shots.
Becca Workman and Jessicca Porter combined to stop 12 of 18 shots for 12-3 Hampden.
Class B
Caribou 3, Orono 2
At Caribou, Shelby Cousins converted the rebound of a Lauren Harrigan shot which glanced off the post with 13:56 remaining to pace No. 4 Caribou into the semifinals.
Cousins and Lindsay Burlock answered an Olivia Alford goal to give the Vikings a 2-1 lead just 5:58 into the game.
Alford tied it later in the first half.
Billie Martin made 12 saves on 16 shots for 10-5 Caribou while Marie Lint stopped five of 13 shots for No. 5 Orono, which finished at 6-5-4.

Van Buren 2, Greenville 1 (2OT)
At Van Buren, Jeremy Chasse scored off a Mike Corbin pass in the second overtime to lift the Crusaders to the win.
Andreas Fontiaeros scored off a corner kick scramble with 16 seconds remaining in regulation for 9-5-1 Van Buren. Dustin Cyr saved two out of three shots.
Nathan Woodbury tallied an unassisted goal for the 9-4-1 Lakers. Brandon Lavigne stopped seven out of 16 shots.
