Two business events next week put the spotlight on manufacturing and its future in central and northern Maine.

The Maine State Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting beginning at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Bangor Civic Center.

Guest speaker William Canis, executive director of the Manufacturing Institute of the National Association of Manufacturers, will discuss the state of manufacturing in Maine.

On Thursday morning, Oct. 30, the Maine Real Estate and Development Association will conduct a breakfast seminar to discuss the region’s economy. State economist Laurie Lachance and Jack Cashman, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, will be the speakers.

The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn on Odlin Road in Bangor. Cost is $15 per person. For more information, call 874-0801.
