Sandra Blake Leonard invites you to the Eddington Salmon Club’s Annual Hunters’ Breakfast 5-9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the clubhouse on the corner of Routes 9 and 178 in Eddington.
Although there is no salmon fishing on the Penobscot River, Leonard said, club members are still very active.
Proceeds from the breakfast, for example, help support club activities such as “working with school groups, teaching them about the life of the salmon and about conservation of the river.”
The Ultimate Hunters’ Breakfast is 4-9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Dedham School Gymnasium on Route 1A.
Besides featuring everything from bacon and eggs to pancakes, you might win a door prize!
Admission is $12 for families, $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Proceeds benefit the Dedham Class of ’05.
Or you can enjoy a $5 Hunters’ Breakfast with “the usual breakfast offerings,” reports Ellen Alexander, at a fund-raiser from 5-9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at Beech Hill School in Otis. Proceeds will help members of the school’s eighth-grade class travel to Boston in the spring.
Now, work off that breakfast!
Members of R.E.A.C.H. offer you the Falling Leaf 5K Run or Walk beginning with registration at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Memorial Gymnasium on the University of Maine campus in Orono.
The race, covering the UMaine cross-country trail, begins at 10 a.m. According to Diadem Strout, your $10 registration fee helps this organization support Sustainable Harvest International, a local, nonprofit group working to address issues of poverty and deforestation in Central America.Call 866-4650 for more information.

Chairwomen Mary Anne Eason and Leah Vetelino have lots planned for the Church of Universal Fellowship Annual Church Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Orono.
Crafts, food, candy, collectibles, antique dishes, a silent auction, plus a yard sale on the porch of the former parish house are available, as well as coffee and snacks.
Lucille Cardin reports the Home for the Holidays Fair is 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Veazie Congregational Church.
The Sweet Adelines entertain at 1 p.m., and Jappo the Clown will make balloon creations.
You can purchase food, candy, knitted items, Christmas ornaments, secondhand treasures and assorted craft items, or take a chance on a raffle.
The Redeemer Lutheran Church Annual Fall Festival is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the church, 540 Essex St. in Bangor.
Half of the monies raised at this fair, reports Christine Kreider, help support organizations such as Spruce Run Agency and the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.
The remainder supports church mission and special programs such as the Sunshine Service for mentally and-or physically challenged people.
Contributions from members of the congregation, and fair trade crafts at the From Afar Bazaar, are available here, along with gift-wrapping, a children’s room and a $3 lunch of homemade soup.
Mabel Lufkin and Selina Lufkin chair A Candy Cane Holiday Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church on Route 9.
A church tradition since the 1940s, this fair features not only homemade food and crafts, but also lunch, a doll table and coffee, and donut holes for “early birds” waiting in front of the church for the doors to open!
