Maine muzzles Danes

ORONO – Katie Hodge scored two goals to help the University of Maine women to a 6-0 soccer victory over the Albany Great Danes Thursday.

Annie Hamel had a goal and two assists for the 11-3-1 Black Bears and Kate Crawford scored a goal and made an assist. Jessica Wojcik and Heather Hathorn each had a goal. Natalie Berry and Emily Stevens both had one assist as Tanya Adorno stopped the only shot that she saw.

Erika Van Zandt stopped nine of 16 shots for 1-17-1 Albany.

Colby 1, Southern Maine 1

At Waterville, Laura Williamson and Libba Cox each scored two goals and assisted another to help lead Colby College past the University of Southern Maine.

Meg Cordner and Christina Andaya both had a goal and an assist for the Mules and Liz Morbeck had two assists. Elizabeth Riley made five saves on seven shots for 7-5-1 Colby.

Eva Hanson scored an unassisted goal in the second half for the 6-8-2 Huskies. Marcy Ansley and Rachel Kwantz combined to made seven saves on 21 shots.

Husson 3, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Bea DeYcaza scored all three goals for the hat trick in Husson’s eleventh win.

Kaylin Caron had two assists and Janie Michaud had one for 11-4-2 Husson. Leah Drew and Ashley Robar combined for six saves on seven shots.

Jessica Craft made 13 saves on 21 shots for 3-9 Thomas College.

UM-Farmington 2, MMA 1

At Castine, Erin Findlan scored the game-winning goal on a Jodie Welch assist in the first half to lead the University of Maine Farmington past Maine Maritime Academy.

Erin Campbell scored just 1:36 into the first half on a Welch assist for 13-3-1 UM-Farmington. Patty Boutin stopped five of eight shots.

Jessie Taylor netted a goal off of a Erika Poulin assist in the first for 8-6-1 Maine Maritime. Beth Chasse made seven saves on nine shots.

Men’s soccer

Husson 3, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Dave Richards had a goal and an assist to help lead Husson to the win.

Kyle James and Shane Coffin each netted a goal for 9-7 Husson College. Matt Goodman stopped six of seven shots.

Ryan Conrad made 12 saves on 19 attempts for 4-12-1 Thomas College.

Southern Maine 2, Salem State 0

At Salem, Mass., Zach Ansley scored the game’s first goal 1:55 into the first half to help lead the University of Southern Maine past Salem State College.

Craig Vickers scored on a Steve Read assist in the second half for the 8-8-2 Huskies. Dan Hills made seven saves on 10 shots.

Tim Doucette stopped five of seven shots for 5-11 Salem State.

UM-Farmington 3, MMA 0

At Farmington, Joe Conway scored at 2:32 into the game and assisted another goal to help the University of Maine Farmington to its twelfth win.

Jeff Beck and Jeff Tatarczuk each netted a goal for 12-4-1 UM-Farmington. Chris Vigezzi and Noah Phillips both had an assist as Seabren Reeves and Eric Stailing did not face a shot.

Joshua Heath and Derek Schweizer combined to make nine saves on 20 shots for 3-10-3 Maine Maritime Academy.

Endicott 4, U of New England 0

At Beverly, Mass., John Haskos scored two goals to push Endicott College past the University of New England.

J.P. Marquez and Nathan Briggs both netted a goal for the 9-5-4 Power Gulls. Dan Duvernoy had two assists as Joshua Golden and Brian Thopsey each had one assist. Mitch Donar made six saves.

Steven Bishop stopped six shots for the 3-12-1 University of New England.
