MACHIAS – Senior wing midfielder Austin Roberts scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season to lead the top-ranked Machias Bulldogs to a 2-0 Eastern Maine Class D semifinal boys soccer win over Calvary Chapel Friday.
The Bulldogs will host the second-ranked Washburn Beavers today at 1 p.m. to decide the Eastern Maine champion.
Marcus Frutchey made 10 saves on 13 shots to shut out Calvary Chapel as Machias improved to 13-1.
Roberts dribbled across the top of the penalty area and found the corner with a blast 3:49 into the game, and he iced it with 9:51 remaining in regulation by converting a Chase Ross pass.
Tyler Ganz made 15 saves on 22 shots for No. 5 Calvary Chapel of Orrington, which finished at 12-4-1.
