ROCKPORT – The Center for Maine Contemporary Arts has announced its “Plugged In Fest II.” The weekend of New Media projects, featuring digitally produced still images and time-based work, will run from Friday, March 12, through Monday, March 15, 2004.
Proposals for solo or group New Media projects are invited for review by the festival’s planning committee, which includes faculty from the University of Southern Maine, the University of Maine in Orono, and CMCA’s curatorial staff. Decisions will be based on artistic merit, originality in the use of the media as well as varied and balanced programming. Projects may be proposed either as weekend-long, on-site presentations, or as part of the festival’s ongoing video program.
Proposals for solo or collaborative projects may be submitted by Maine artists, either seasonal or year-round residents, including high school and university students. Proposals for unfinished works in progress are acceptable.
Work intended for exhibition may be completed after the proposal is accepted, but entries need to clearly indicate both style and content.
Proposals must be postmarked by Monday, Dec. 1, to be considered. Mail proposals to the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, P.O. Box 147, Rockport, Maine 04856.
