LEWISTON – A man and a woman were wounded in a street-corner shooting Saturday and a suspect was arrested on two counts of attempted murder.

The three people involved in the 3:45 p.m. incident in the area of Lexington and Westminster streets knew each other, according to police, who gave no motive for the shooting.

Fernande Thibodeau, 52, and Richard Dehart, 38, both of Lewiston, were transported to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries that Lt. Tom Avery said were not life-threatening.

Dehart was wounded in the right shoulder and neck, Avery said, while Thibodeau suffered head injuries from flying glass or debris.

The two were able to drive to a convenience store on Lisbon Street, where they called police.

The suspect, identified as Michael Heon, 46, of Lewiston, was taken into custody a short time later outside his home, Avery said.

Heon was being held in the Androscoggin County Jail.
