WASHINGTON – Retail chain Pier 1 Imports is recalling some 65,800 candleholders because the item breaks easily and has injured seven consumers.

Pier 1, of Fort Worth, Texas, is recalling its “footed glass floater bowl candleholder” because the base can unexpectedly fall off, causing it to shatter, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Seven people have suffered cuts in nine incidents reported to Pier 1.

Pier 1 sold the candleholders for about $12 at its retail stores nationwide and on its Web site from March 2002 through early October 2003. The price sticker on the bottom of the candleholder reads “SKU 1920833.”

Consumers can return the candleholders to the stores where they were purchased for a refund or store credit.

For more information, call Pier 1 at (800) 245-4595, Ext. 5.
