ELLSWORTH – Police are now enforcing winter parking restrictions that prohibit overnight parking on city streets or in city parking lots, according to a local police officer.

The winter parking regulations went into effect Nov. 1 and will last until April 1, Lt. Harold Page said Thursday.

With the winter parking rules, no cars can be parked on city streets or in city lots for more than half an hour between midnight and 6 a.m., Page said.

Any car that is interfering with snow removal on city property at any time of the day also is in violation of the city’s winter parking rules, he said.

Vehicles that violate the seasonal parking restrictions are subject to fines, towing, or both, according to Page.
