BANGOR – A Warren man was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release on multiple charges of bank robbery.

Fort Fairfield native Donald Amiee Turner, 37, pleaded guilty on June 11 to the Jan. 3, 2000, attempted robbery of the Kennebec Valley Federal Credit Union in Augusta; the Jan. 3, 2000, robbery of the Northeast Bank in Augusta and conspiracy to rob that bank; the Jan. 8, 2000, robbery of the Maine Bank and Trust in South Portland; and the Jan. 12, 2000, robbery of the Citizen’s Bank in Nashua, N.H.

Restitution totaling $27,487.92 payable to the Northeast Bank of Augusta, Maine Bank and Trust of South Portland and Citizen’s Bank in Nashua, N.H., also was ordered as part of the sentence.

Turner was arrested Jan. 27, 2000, in El Paso, Texas, on a warrant for the Jan. 21, 2000, robbery of the AmSouth Bank in Largo, Fla. He was convicted on three counts of robbery in Pinellas County Circuit Court in Florida and sentenced to three concurrent sentences of life imprisonment.

After the Florida trial, Turner was brought to Maine to face the various New England charges. He will return to Florida to serve his Florida and federal sentences.
