FARMINGTON – Jodie Welch scored at 23:34 of the second half off a throw-in from Sam Goyette to give the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers a 1-0 victory over Husson College in the North Atlantic Conference field hockey title game Saturday.
Patty Boutin had one save to get the shutout for the 16-3-1 winners while Leah Drew had nine for the 10-5-3 Braves.
Amherst 6, Bates 0
At Brunswick Sunday, Ashley Harmeling knocked in three goals to give the Lord Jeffs the NESCAC title.
Jeannette Crowell and Emily Durwood made five saves on 19 shots to get the shutout for 10-3-4 Amherst.
Lynne Antinarelli and Kaitlin Hyde stopped nine out of 15 shots for the 12-3-2 Bobcats of Lewiston.

So. Maine 3, Keene State 1
At Keene, N.H., Darci Holland had a goal and two assists and Renee Heath notched a goal and an assist to lead the Huskies to the Little East title Saturday.
Kerry Leonard added a goal for 17-5 Southern Maine. Jessie Superichi had 18 saves on 22 shots.
Kaitlin Henley scored off a Justine Wentworth pass for 16-6 Keene State. Catlin Baril stopped two out of six shots.
UM-Farmington 3, Simmons 0
At Boston Saturday, Erica Gundersen scored the game-winner in the first half off a Angie White assist to propel the Beavers to the North Atlantic Conference title.
Kristy Veazie and Mary Berry added goals while Mary Sinclair and Lauren Stevens had assists for the 12-7 winners. Ashleigh Biette had 12 saves on 15 shots.
Tiffany Collins stopped seven out of 11 shots for 9-7 Simmons.

UMFK4, Coll. of St. Joseph’s 0
At Fort Kent Saturday, Juan Murphy knocked in two goals to help give the Bengals the Sunrise Conference crown.
Andrew Clavette tallied a goal plus an assist for the 11-3 winners. Aadil Mootassem added a goal while Charles Bard, Gintaras Lenkutis and Cesar Carrizo had assists. Nick Thibodeau made two saves.
Tom LaPlante had 11 saves for the 8-8 College of St. Joseph of Vermont.
Volleyball
Binghamton sweeps Maine
At Vestal, N.Y. Saturday, Michele Beck had eight digs and 11 kills to lead Binghamton to a 30-21, 30-26, 30-26 sweep of Maine.
Megan Borg notched eight digs and nine kills for 15-13 Binghamton.
Leah Guidinger led the 13-19 Black Bears with 13 kills while Brittany Howe had 11.
Women’s hockey
Princeton 3, Maine 2 (OT)
At Matthews Arena in Boston, Gretchen Anderson scored the second of her two goals at 2:37 of overtime to give the Tigers the win.
Rebecca Stewart added another goal for 3-0 Princeton. Roxanne Gaudiel had 17 saves on 19 shots.
Kate Sunstrum registered an unassisted goal for the 1-5-2 Black Bears while Karen Droog scored off a Megan Aarts pass. Lara Smart stopped 31 of 34 shots.
Men’s hockey
UMass 5, Merrimack 3
AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts rallied from a 3-2 second-period deficit and scored the final three goals of the game to beat Merrimack, 5-3 on Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, Mike Warner and Greg Mauldin scored to give UMass (7-1, 4-1 Hockey East) a 2-0 lead early in the second.
Merrimack (2-6-1, 1-4-1) then scored three goals in a three minute span to take a 3-2 lead, as Brent Gough, Brendon Clark and Ryan Sullivan scored.
