Toaster with the most-er

Why should bread and bagels have all the fun? Croissants, pitas and rolls have needs, too. That’s why Rowenta designed the Integrating Warming Platform, which heats pastries and breads on top of the toaster. It reheats 25 percent faster than toaster ovens, too. Rowenta’s “Brunch” toaster ranges in price from $60 to $80. For online retailers, visit www.rowenta.com.

Foodie feast

As if the food at Arrows in Ogunquit weren’t memorable enough. Five of the state’s most celebrated chefs will come together in the kitchen there this Friday for Maine’s Moveable Feast, a fund-raising dinner to benefit the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. Arrows chefs Clark Frasier and Mark Gaier will join Sam Hayward of Fore Street in Portland, Melissa Kelly of Primo in Rockland and Tom Gutow of the Castine Inn to prepare a multicourse meal featuring Maine-grown and -raised foods. Last year’s feast included such treats as Saffron Poached Skate with Caramelized Orange and Cilantro Scallions, Gallette of Maine Crabmeat and Shrimp with a Light Dijon Sauce, and a Salad of House Cured Duck Ham with Local Spinach. The meal costs $150per person. For more information or tickets, contact Judi Gardner in the MOFGA office at 568-4142.

Shipyard Brewing Co. will mark its 10th anniversary with a special red-, white-and-blue bottlecap, which will show up this month in stores. The festivities will continue into 2004 with a special anniversary event to mark the introduction of the award-winning Old Thumper Special Ale. But beer lovers can start celebrating now by raising a pint glass or bottle in a toast. For more information, visit www.shipyard.com.
