BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

MIKE PRENTISS

Prentiss, a senior tailback and cornerback at Bangor High School, rushed for 274 yards and three TDs as the Rams defeated Mt. Blue 40-21 in a PTC Class A football semifinal. He also returned a fumble recovery 32 yards for a TD. For the season, Prentiss has rushed for 1,903 yards and scored 27 TDs.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MARCUS FRUTCHEY

The junior goalkeeper from Machias Memorial High School made nine saves to earn the shutout as the Bulldogs topped Waynflete of Portland 2-0 to win the school’s first state Class D boys soccer title since 1990.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRYNA HARRINGTON

Harrington, the Belfast soccer team’s goalie, made 21 saves in 120 minutes of regulation and overtime play during Saturday’s Class B state championship game. Yarmouth defeated the Lions 2-1 in sudden-death penalty kicks. The junior starter gave up just one goal during field play in four playoff games.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JACKIE MOORS

The Lee Academy sophomore goalie made nine saves on 12 shots as the Pandas earned a 4-0 shutout victory over Waynflete in the Class D state soccer championship.
