CAPE ELIZABETH – The Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K, one of New England’s top road races, has moved its seventh race to Sunday, Aug. 1, breaking from its tradition of being on the first Saturday of August.
Race officials decided to make the change to reduce conflicts with other major road races and Maine Track Club events. The Cape Elizabeth Town Council unanimously approved the change at its Monday meeting.
Race-date conflicts this year included the Falmouth (Mass.) Road Race on Aug. 8, the Peaks Island 5-Miler on July 31 and the Bix 7 in Davenport, Iowa on July 24.
