HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -The second day of competition wrapped up at the Team Candlepin Bowling Championship Wednesday with O’Brien’s Shooter Pub of Moncton, New Brunswick, and Line-M-Up from Hanover, Mass., sitting atop the Pelham Electric division.

The Maine Heat, which won the tourney two years ago, climbed from seventh to third. Vacationland Bowling Center of Saco sits in ninth.

The Maine Heat, which features bowlers Chip Carson of Bangor and the father-son team of James and Charlie Milan of Brewer, turned in a 20-4 record on Wednesday after a 12-12 mark on Tuesday.

In the Holiday Inn Division, MacLaughlin Truck and Trailer of Halifax topped Park Place Lanes of New Hampshire. Mid-Coast Maine of Rockland is in ninth while Getchell Brother’s Ice of Brewer sits in 11th.

The day’s high team single belonged to Line-M-Up (703), team high three to MacLaughlin Truck and Trailer (2003), high single to Jon Winchell of New Hampshire and Doug Cormier of Moncton (174) and high series to Daniel Basque of Moncton (444).

The final round of qualifying will be completed by 3 p.m. Friday with the top five in each of the 12-team divisions entering the playoff rounds. The top team in each division will receive a bye in the first two rounds.
