HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -The third day of competition in the World Team Candlepin Bowling Championship ended Thursday with Maine Heat in a three-way tie atop the Pelham Electric division.

Maine Heat, led by 23-time state champion Charlie Milan III; Maria’s Sub of Scituate, Mass., and O’Brien’s Shooter Pub of Moncton, New Brunswick, all had records of 52-20.

Vacationland Bowling Center of Saco has also posted a 32-40 record and is in eighth.

In the Holiday Inn Division, MacLaughlin Truck and Trailer of Halifax holds a two-point lead over Park Place Lane of New Hampshire. Mid-Coast Maine of Rockland remained in ninth and Getchell Bros. Ice moved up from 11th to 10th.

Shawn Morrison threw a triple strike and a tournament-high single of 181 to lead Maine Heat into the tie for first.

The team high single of the day, and the tournament, belongs to Maria’s Sub.

The final matches will be Friday, with the top five teams in each division moving to the playoffs. The top team in each division will get a bye through the first two rounds of playoffs.
