HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – Rob Henderson notched a 407 series to help MacLaughin’s Truck and Trailer win its second straight World Team Candlepin Bowling Championship at the Halifax Fairlanes Bowling Center on Saturday.

MacLaughlin’s defeated the New Hampshire All-Stars 1,973-1,842 to become the first Canadian team to win back-to-back titles.

The Maine Heat team from the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes in Brewer were eliminated in the semifinal round by the New Hampshire All-Stars 1,947-1,878.

Shawn Morrison kept the Maine Heat in contention with a 193 string, the highest of the tourney. He finished with a 422 series, but New Hampshire’s John Thomas countered with a 428.

Other scores for the Maine Heat in the semifinal included Chip Carson (382), Dick O’Connell (379), Russ Nealey (146), Nate Nealey (336) and Tim Matero (213).

Morrison paced the Maine Heat throughout the tourney with a 134.4 average, including series of 412, 429, 451, 422 and 435.

In the championship match, Sean O’Flaherty chipped in with a 395 series for MacLaughlin’s, while Tim Carrigan added a 393 and Chris Hollett had a 390.

MacLaughlin’s advanced by beating Park Place Lanes (N.H.) in the semifinals 1,981-1,926 with a 717 final string that included a 182 by O’Flaherty.

Next year’s tourney returns to the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes.
