BOSTON – The University of Maine men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished 19th in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet Saturday.

The men were led by Jeffrey Caron of Auburn, who finished 48th in a time of 31 minutes, 44 seconds for the 8-kilometer course. Andy Caron of Topsham was 76th in 32:15, followed by Kirby Davis of Falmouth (105th, 32:58), Brian Herasymchuck (129th, 33:30) and Scott Minkowsky of Topsham (136th, 33:36).

The Maine women were led by Brewer’s Heather Jovanelli, who finished the 5K course in 70th place overall in 22:59. Kristen Vidlak finished 96th in 23:23, followed by Hana Pelletier of Belgrade (105th, 23:26), Janeen Shepard of Brunswick (135th, 23:45) and Charlotte Howley of Wilton (138th, 23:49).

The Providence women and Iona men won the team championships.
