Two women were killed in separate highway accidents early Monday and Tuesday afternoon in southern Maine, police said.

In New Gloucester, Barbara Noble, 71, of Bridgton, was killed and her passenger injured in a two-car collision near the Gray town line Monday afternoon.

Noble’s car pulled in front of a pickup truck that was towing another vehicle at 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Morse Road and Route 100, police said.

Noble died at the scene and her passenger was taken to a hospital. The driver of the pickup sustained facial and leg injuries, Trooper Nathan Jamo said.

At about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed head-on into a van on state Route 4, also known as the Turner Road, in Auburn.

Tana Norris of Turner died after her car crossed the yellow line. Police are investigating the cause, but said there was no indication speed or alcohol were factors, Sgt. Tim Condon said.

The driver of the van suffered a broken leg, police said.
