Field hockey awards
BANGOR – Area athletes who will receive Maine Field Hockey Association Awards on Dec. 7 at a banquet at the Augusta Civic Center are:
. Academic Team – Renee Trafton and Jenna Dauphinee, Central High School, Corinth; and Renee Rioux, John Bapst Memorial High School, Bangor.
. All State Team, Class A – Vanessa Michaud, Brewer High School.
. All State Team, Class B – Aly Lumino, Hampden Academy.
. All State Team, Class C – Casey Davis and Jenny Rollins, Central High School, Corinth; and Ana Blagojevic, Orono High School.
Archery, air riflery at YMCA
BANGOR – The Bangor YMCA is offering programs in archery for adults and an air riflery program for youth this fall.
The youth air riflery program for ages 10-16 began Nov. 12 and is held 5:15-6 p.m., 6-6:45 p.m. and 6:45-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Columbia Street Church gym. All equipment is provided. The cost is $35 for nonmembers, and members are free. Financial assistance is available. Registrations are accepted until the program is full.
The adult archery program began Nov. 13 and is held 6:45-8:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Columbia Street Church gym. Equipment is provided, or participants may bring their own. The cost is $5 per night for non-members, and members are free. Walk-ins are welcome.

Gym-mini Crickets
ORONO – When it’s too cold to play outside, Orono Parks and Recreation has the right stuff. The department will provide balls, parachutes, hula hoops and other equipment for indoor play.
The program, Gym-mini Crickets, is held 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and began Nov. 18 at the Keith Anderson Community House. It is geared toward 2- to 5-year-old children and their parents.
An adult volunteer is needed to help facilitate the program. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 866-5065 for more information.
