BANGOR – Wild blueberry growers who were stung by lower prices from imports might be eligible for cash and technical assistance under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s trade assistance program.
To be eligible for the program, farmers must be able to provide documentation verifying the production and quantity of wild blueberries produced during the 2002 marketing year.
If found eligible, producers could receive 2.8 cents per pound of blueberries marketed from July 2002 through June 2003.
Applications are being accepted at the Penobscot County Farm Service Agency office in Bangor. The deadline to enroll is Jan. 20, 2004.
