The five stores operated by The Black Stove Shop, Maine’s largest retailer of stove and fireplace products, have been acquired by a New York-based investment firm, S3 Partners LLC.

Founded in 1975 by Ray and Candace Manocchio, the Black Stove Shop showrooms in Augusta, Bangor, Waterville, Lewiston and Yarmouth feature gas and wood-burning stoves, fireplace inserts, lawn and patio furnishings, outdoor grilles, and garden accessories.

Frank Tarantino of Freeport, the company’s new president, said the new owners intend to expand product offerings and open more stores over the next few years in an effort to double current annual revenue of about $5 million.

The Pamola Motor Lodge in Millinocket was recently purchased by B&C Management Inc., which is owned and operated by Brent Cole and Dustin Bulley. The motel at 973 Central St. is located directly off the ITS 86 snowmobile trail in Millinocket.
