Officers from the Maine State Police and Hampden police searched the woods Friday night for a man who fled an accident on Interstate 95.

Trooper Daniel Ryan said that at about 7:30 p.m. he was told that a car was driving erratically northbound on I-95 just south of Bangor. Ryan was en route when the Ford Mustang rear-ended a Chevrolet pickup truck just south of exit 45A.

Ryan said the driver of the Ford, later identified as Steven Allen, 32, of Bangor, spoke briefly with the other driver before taking off on foot into the woods.

Ryan said state police set a K-9 unit on Allen’s track, and were close behind him when Hampden police found him in the Ammo Industrial Park.

Hampden police arrested Allen and took him to Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and violation of conditional release in connection with an OUI arrest in Bangor on Wednesday night.

Allen’s Mustang was totaled, Ryan said, and the Chevrolet received about $1,500 worth of damage. Nobody was injured.

Bangor police found drugs and weapons while searching a car and its occupants Thursday night.

Officer James Hassard reported that at about 9:45 p.m. he and Officer Christopher Morley went to a Boynton Street address where plainclothes and regular officers were speaking with a carload of people. Hassard said there had been a complaint that the car’s occupants were being disorderly.

The occupants were asked to get out of the car, Hassard said. Officer James Dearing found in the car several items that could be used as weapons, including a knife and a golf club. Hassard noted that two nights before, police had gone to the same area for a report that people were carrying golf clubs and bats.

Hassard said he began to pat people down. He found a pipe on one man, Donald Bennett, of New York, who admitted he had a small bag of marijuana. Bennett was summoned for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hassard also patted down Brian Perkins, 26, of Stockton Springs who told Hassard he had a boot knife. Perkins was summoned for carrying a concealed weapon.

An Old Town police Sergeant arrested an Orono man after allegedly watching him hit a bar owner early Friday.

Sgt. Scott Casey reported that he went to the Riverfront Pub on Water Street at about 1:15 a.m. because a patron didn’t leave when asked. As he arrived, Casey said, he saw the patron hit the bar owner.

Casey arrested Adam Chase, 25, of Orono, and took him to Penobscot County Jail, reportedly kicking, screaming and swearing. Casey said jail staff had to restrain Chase again once his handcuffs were removed. Chase was charged with assault.

Buildings at a construction site in Orono were reported as burglarized Thursday night.

Orono police received two burglary complaints Friday morning from the Dirigo Pines construction site on Kelley Road. According to police, more than $8,000 worth of equipment was stolen from the site.
