BREWER – To kick off their Solidarity Harvest, members and volunteers from the nonprofit Food AND Medicine organization and the Greater Bangor Area Central Labor Council will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the labor council’s offices at 20 Ayer St.
The Solidarity Harvest is a program providing Thanksgiving dinners to almost 200 families of laid-off workers. The meals – consisting of turkey, vegetables, rolls, cider and pie – contain locally grown and made items. Farmers and bakers from the area and surrounding counties are supporting the project with contributions of produce and baked goods.
At the news conference, representatives from both groups will speak about job loss in the area and other challenges facing laid-off workers and their families.
