Player awards

Ryan McLellan

McLellan, of the Franklin Pierce Ravens, was named Northeastern Conference men’s basketball Freshman of the week. He averaged 14.7 points and 3.7 rebounds over the first three games in his collegiate career. He converted 76.9 percent (20-26) of his free-throw attempts for the week.

Marissa O’Neil

O’Neil was named New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the year. The junior from the Bowdoin field hockey team tied the school record for single-season goals (19) while breaking the school mark for assists (17). She was also a first-team All-American selection.

Gillian McDonald

Senior field hockey goalie for Bowdoin McDonald was named first-team All-American. She graduates holding almost every goalkeeping record, including career wins (48), career shutouts (30), single-season GAA (0.44) and minutes played (4,097).

Amanda Burrage

Burrage, a senior on the Bowdoin field hockey team, earned a Division III third-team All-American selection. She ranks fourth on Bowdoin’s all-time list with 17 career assists.

Jessie Superchi

Senior goalkeeper Superchi of the University of Southern Maine Huskies field hockey team was named to the Division III All-American second-team. She compiled a 0.97 goals against average by allowing only 23 goals in 1,657 minutes of action. She made a school record 176 saves, had a 17-6 record and posted 10 shutout this season.

Annie McIntosh

McIntosh, of the Husson Braves, was named Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The center had 11 points and 16 rebounds versus Newbury, and followed up with a 14-point, 8-rebound effort in a loss to Colby. She was 10-for-20 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the line in the two games.

Sarah Kelly

Colby College women’s basketball player Sarah Kelly was named New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Kelly averaged 19 points, five assists, shot 64 percent for the field and 91 percent from the foal line in the Colby Tip-Off Tourney. She was also named Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week.

Chris Ries

Ries was honored as New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. He helped the Colby men’s team off to a fine start to the season with 48 saves in two games. Ries has a 1.92 goals against average and a .923 save percentage in the opening two games.

Wendy Bonner

A Colby College junior, Bonner was named by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association to the Division III All-American Third Team. She broke her own single-season goal scoring record when she had 15 goals and three assists for 33 points this past season. She also had six game-winning goals in 2003 and had 15 of Colby’s 29 goals.

Jason Levecque

Junior guard Jason Levecque of the University of Southern Maine men’s basketball team has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week. He averaged 29.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting .500 (20 of 40) from the floor, in the Trinity College Tip-Off Tournament.
