PITTSFIELD – Michael Rabashkin, assistant principal in SAD53’s pre-kindergarten to grade four level, has submitted his resignation to the school board.
Rabashkin said he has accepted a position in Rockland to design a gifted and talented program for students in grades kindergarten through 12. “I will be designing the program virtually from the ground up,” he said Wednesday.
“This is an awesome opportunity,” said Rabashkin. “There is a real commitment down there to academically and artistically gifted students.” The administrator said he will miss working directly with the children, as he does in SAD53, but will be able to put his background and education to use in Rockland.
SAD 53 directors will act on Rabashkin’s resignation at their meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.
The board will also hear an update on the Jobs For Maine’s Graduates program. This is the first year that the district has conducted the program, and staff members Dave Perron, Craig Larrabee and Sabrina Peters will present an overview.
Much of the remainder of the meeting will be housekeeping business including appointments to committees, staff nominations, and readings of proposed policies. All meetings are open to the public and held at the Warsaw Middle School library.
