OLD TOWN – Brandon Riva of Bath, a member of Boy Scout Troop 621, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest award, earlier this year.
Riva joined Cub Scout Pack 652 in Bath in 1990 and earned the Arrow of Light award, the only Cub Scout award that may be worn on the Boy Scout uniform.
As a Scout, Riva earned 21 merit badges and held the position of senior patrol leader in charge of the troop, with only minimal guidance from adult leaders.
For his Eagle Scout project, Riva designed and built a 20-foot-long footbridge along a hiking trail for the Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust located in North Bath.
A student in criminal justice at the University of Maine, Riva is the son of Jeffrey and Rana Riva, formerly of Old Town and Milford; and the grandson of Francis and Betty Riva of Old Town and Terry and Gloria Rugan of Milford.
