Body found on shore not yet identified

ROQUE BLUFFS – A badly decomposed body was found washed up along a beach Sunday in this Washington County community, authorities said.

People walking along the shore spotted the body around 3:30 p.m., said David Dent of the Maine Marine Patrol.

It was not immediately clear if the body was that of a man or a woman. It was being transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.

Dent said the only missing person in the area in recent months was a man who left a suicide note in mid-June.
