2 men indicted for role in Bangor break-in

BANGOR – Two men believed to be part of a four-person team that forced their way into a Bangor home in October were indicted Monday by the Penobscot County grand jury.

Stephen Bowers and Derrick Day, both 18 and of Bangor, were indicted for robbery, burglary and criminal threatening in connection with the alleged Oct. 19 break-in on lower Essex Street. Day also was indicted for violation of condition of release.

Bowers, Day and a third man who has not been charged kicked in the door of the house, confronted the man and woman who police believed lived there and demanded property, according to Penobscot County Assistant District Attorney Greg Campbell. The three allegedly threatened the couple with a golf club, a tire iron and a long-handled garden tool.

A 17-year-old juvenile from Bangor allegedly stood watch outside. He has been charged with robbery, criminal trespassing and criminal threatening, Campbell said Monday.

Two of the four men who allegedly entered an Eddington apartment building in July also were indicted Monday. Michael Gleason, 38, of Bangor and Jeffrey Simpson, 38, of Newburgh each were indicted on two counts of burglary, aggravated assault and assault.

Lance M. Palmer, 34, of North Berwick was sentenced last month to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary, aggravated assault, assault and violating probation in connection with the incident.

Douglas Clifford, 38, of Swanville was indicted in August on two counts of burglary, aggravated assault and assault. He has not entered a plea on the charges.

Police believe the four men entered an apartment building on Route 9 about 10:30 p.m. July 8 looking for a man named Lee. They allegedly struck one man with a hammer before fleeing when the men learned the police had been called.

Mark T. Connelly, 45, LaGrange, aggravated marijuana cultivation.

Robert A. Demasi, 47, Newport, terrorizing, criminal threatening, violation of condition of release.

Brenda J. Devoe, 26, Bangor, assault on an officer, disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest.

Gabriel Dill, 27, Eddington, theft.

Alan R. Farrar, 28, Dexter, operating after revocation.

John Feltham, 45, Bangor, burglary, theft.

Christopher Hilton, 24, Orland, failure to appear, forgery.

Jason Kenyon (aka Jason Gordon), 22, Bangor, aggravated assault.

Edward J. LeBreton II, 41, Old Town, aggravated criminal trespass, two counts of assault, obstructing report of crime or injury, three counts of violation of condition of release, four counts of violation of a protective order.

Gregory P. Lyons, 44, East Millinocket, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Percy E. Martin, 32, Bangor, theft.

Arthur F. Quimby, 32, Exeter, operating after revocation.

Matthew Riley, 19, Pittsfield, burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass.
