UNITY – Matt Clement scored 24 points and Marc McCorrison hit six 3-pointers as Maine Maritime Academy downed Unity 79-54 in men’s basketball action Tuesday night. McCorrison finished with 22 points, Neil Stewart added 11, and B.J. Dunlap 10 for the Mariners of Castine.

UNITY – Matt Clement scored 24 points and Marc McCorrison hit six 3-pointers as Maine Maritime Academy downed Unity 79-54 in men’s basketball action Tuesday night.

McCorrison finished with 22 points, Neil Stewart added 11, and B.J. Dunlap 10 for the Mariners of Castine.

Noah Schneider led Unity with 16 points, while junior forward Jeremy Kervin of Hodgdon scored 15, including the 1,000th point of his college career.

Matt Kent added 10 points for the Rams, while Jared Erskine chipped in with eight points and 13 rebounds.

At Waterville, Evans Cazeau hit a driving layup with nine seconds left to give Lasell of Newton, Mass., the victory.

Colby led 53-49 with 3:13 left, but Lasell battled back and took a 57-56 lead with 51 seconds left on two Stern Chamblain free throws.

Napolean Sandeford and Demetrius DeJesus each scored 12 points to lead Lasell.

Patrick McGowan paced Colby with 14 points, and Michael Westbrooks and Andrew Jenkins each put in 11.

Petrie made 12 of 15 field goal attempts and was 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. T.J. McLeod added 13 points for Bowdoin, while John Goodridge scored 10.

Mike Francoeur paced USM with 17 points, Jason Levecque added 15, and junior forward Ryan Garland of Hermon scored 11.

At Gorham, Vanessa Russell and Erika Nickerson scored 14 points each and Bowdoin outscored USM 12-3 over the final 8:33 to notch the win.

After a free throw by Ashley Marble put USM up 49-46 with 8:33 left, Bowdoin went on a 10-0 run behind four points from Nickerson and surged to a 56-49 lead with 47 seconds remaining.

Justine Pouravelis chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds for Bowdoin and Laura Trenkle had eight points and five assists.

Tiffany Jones paced USM with 16 points and Jen Webster put in 13.
