DEXTER – The 619th Transportation Company of the U.S. Army Reserve, which has a detachment in Dexter, has been mobilized and ordered to report to Fort Drum, N.Y.

Eric Hurwitz, public affairs specialist with the 94th Regional Readiness Command, said the 150 soldiers in the company based in Auburn will leave in mid-December.

Because the reservists have been mobilized, the men and women will become part of the active army, Hurwitz said Wednesday. The company’s final destination is unknown at this time.

The company will be deployed for up to one year, according to Hurwitz. He said the company’s mission is to provide transportation for the movement of both dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, noncontainerized cargo, bulk water and other products.
