BAR HARBOR – H.E. Sargent Inc. has made a $50,000 contribution to The Jackson Laboratory’s research expansion.

H.E. Sargent Inc., founded in 1926 and based in Stillwater, provides general contractor services with special expertise in commercial building, environmental, industrial and infrastructure construction.

On Aug. 16, the laboratory began the public phase of its five-year, $85 million capital campaign, of which $48 million – including the H.E. Sargent gift – already is pledged or in hand.

Of the funds raised, $60 million will support construction of new buildings, and the remaining $25 million will help increase endowment funding for long-term initiatives and upgrade methods for providing genetic resources and data to the worldwide scientific community.
