At Bangor’s Sawyer Arena, sophomore Nick Payson scored his third goal of the game with 33 seconds left in overtime as undefeated Bangor edged Cony of Augusta to pick up its third win.

Payson took a pass across the neutral zone from his brother, senior Ben Payson, and then scored the game-winner with a high shot from the top of the circle past Cony goalie Mike Levaglio.

Payson, who now has eight goals in Bangor’s three games, gave the Rams a 2-0 lead with a pair of second-period goals. He opened the scoring 8:54 into the period on assists from Mike McPike and Ben Estabrook.

Payson scored again 11:14 into the period on an assist from McPike, but Cony countered 31 seconds later when Chris Vashon scored on an assist from Chris Gay.

Gay scored on an assist from Vashon 8:14 into the third period to send the game into overtime.

Bangor goalie Aaron Buzzell made 24 saves on 26 shots, while Levaglio made 20 saves on 23 shots for 2-1 Cony.
