Cardiology staff grows at hospital

BAR HARBOR – Mount Desert Island Hospital has announced the recent addition of cardiologists Drs. Alan H. Wiseman and William Witmer of Northeast Cardiology Associates to its medical staff. They will see patients twice a month in the hospital’s Cooper-Gilmore Health Center.

Wiseman received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal. His postgraduate training included medical-chief medical residency at the Royal Victoria and St. Elizabeth hospitals in Montreal; cardiology fellowship and research training at the Montreal Heart Institute and Duke University Medical Center; and interventional cardiology fellowship at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

His clinical interests include interventional cardiology and research. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

Witmer received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., and pursued his postgraduate training at the University of Wisconsin, where he was chief medical resident. He received a fellowship from the University of Vermont.

Witmer is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and interventional cardiology. His clinical interest is in the area of interventional cardiology.
