Maine security grants exceed $1.7 million

WASHINGTON – More than $1.7 million has been allocated to the state of Maine for emergency hazard and terrorism preparedness, the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Thursday.

The Emergency Management Performance Grants program supports emergency management at the state and local levels and encourages the improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery capabilities for natural and man-made disasters.

FEMA’s mission is to prepare the nation for all hazards and manage federal response and recovery efforts after any national disaster.
