Post pours in 30 as Presque Isle stays undefeated

ELLSWORTH – Michelle Post made five of her six 3-pointers in the second quarter on her way to a game-high 30 points as the Presque Isle High School Wildcats improved to 6-0 with a 58-40 schoolgirl basketball win Saturday.

Presque Isle made 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to help pull away. Anna Delong added eight points.

Ginny Dalrymple paced Ellsworth with 12 points while Ashley Oleson contributed nine points and 10 rebounds.

At East Machias, Missy Barbee’s layup off an inbounds pass with 11/2 minutes remaining erased a 34-33 deficit and she added a pair of free throws later as Narraguagus of Harrington withstood a Washington Academy rally.

WA had used a 16-2 run to take the 34-33 lead thanks to Mary Mawhinney’s 10 points.

Barbee finished with 15 points for Narraguagus.

Mawhinney wound up with 15 points.
