The American Council for Engineering Companies recently honored three Maine firms with awards for engineering excellence.

Wright-Pierce of Topsham was awarded the top prize of Grand Conceptor for its design of a new water treatment plant in North Haven. Wright-Pierce also was honored for its design of a biosolids dryer for Greater Lawrence Sanitary District in North Andover, Mass.

MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc. of Portland was recognized for successfully cleaning up downtown Corinna and the Sebasticook River after the closing of the Eastland Woolen Mill.

Rounding out the honors was Kleinschmidt Associates of Pittsfield, which worked to restore the east branch of the Sebasticook River in Newport.
