Hutchinson gets Buccaneers past Dirigo Cougars

DIXFIELD – Brent Hutchinson racked up 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Georges Valley Buccaneers of Thomaston nipped the Dirigo Cougars 55-52 in boys basketball action Monday.

A.J. Staples tallied 13 points for Georges Valley of Thomaston.

Trevis Knapp led Dirigo with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Berry scored 10.

At Newman Gymnasium in Bangor, Jonesport-Beals erupted for 36 fourth-quarter points to pull away from host Bangor Christian.

Abraham Beal led the Royals with 24 points, including a 12 of 15 effort from the free-throw line. Erik Balchen added 16 points and Jeremy Chandler 12.

Freshman Jonathan Pike led Bangor Christian with 19 points and six rebounds. Eric Sobey added 12 points and six rebounds and Matt Denbow also scored 12 points.
