Bangor police arrested a man after he allegedly refused to calm down and stop swearing early Monday.
Officer Jason Stuart reported that at 3 a.m. he went to the emergency room at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where a patient, Michael Boucher, 19, reportedly was being violent.
Stuart said he arrived to find Boucher held to the floor by ER staff. Boucher was being verbally abusive, Stuart said. Stuart handcuffed Boucher, telling him the cuffs would stay on until Boucher calmed down.
When Stuart got Boucher to his feet, Boucher began screaming vulgarities, and kicked Stuart in the shin, Stuart said. Stuart brought Boucher to the ground again and held him until he could be restrained on a stretcher using a net.
Stuart said staff told him Boucher had been brought in earlier, and became violent at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Boucher allegedly broke the IV pole from his stretcher and swung it around, then threw it into the hall. Staff netted him once, then released him, they told Stuart, when he seemed to have calmed down. Boucher allegedly then began threatening people, striking at least two. One staff member told Stuart that Boucher hit him in the face seven or eight times.
Boucher was charged with disorderly conduct, assault on an emergency medical care provider, and violation of conditional release.
He was taken to Penobscot County Jail without incident.

Officer Devine and Sgt. Scott Webber went to Pryor’s home and arrested him, charging him with domestic assault.
Pryor posted $5,000 cash bail early Monday for the domestic assault charge, Webber said.

Cpl. Bailey said he and Officer Ruth Duquette spoke with the parties involved. Gardner’s wife reportedly told them Gardner entered her home, grabbed her by the wrists and threw her around during an argument.
Bailey said Gardner was arrested and charged with domestic assault and violation of bail. Gardner had been out on bail after he allegedly violated a protection order in November.
Bangor police arrested a Northport man who was allegedly carrying a butterfly knife early Monday.
Officer Wade Betters reported that at about 1:30 a.m. he stopped a car with an expired registration sticker on Park Street.
Betters said the driver, Joshua Horton, 30, of Northport, showed signs of intoxication, appearing to move in “slow motion.” After administering sobriety tests, Betters arrested Horton on a charge of operating under the influence.
Betters said that when he searched Horton he found a butterfly knife in his front pants pocket. Horton reportedly called it his “pocket knife.” Betters charged Horton with trafficking in dangerous knives, a category that includes switchblade knives and knives opened by gravity.
