Bangor police arrested a Hancock man Monday night at Filene’s in the Bangor Mall.
Officer James Dearing reported that at about 7:45 p.m. he met with a store security officer at Filene’s, who told him she watched Eric Warford, 20, of Hancock put three necklaces in his pocket.
The security officer told Dearing that Warford went to a clothing section of the store, where he removed the security tags from the necklaces and concealed them in the hood of a sweat shirt. She stopped Warford after he left the store and walked into the mall.
Dearing arrested Warford. He said Warford told him he was on parole with Probation and Parole Officer Bill Gordon.
Dearing said that while he was searching Warford’s person, Warford told him he had a needle. Dearing found a hypodermic syringe, a spoon and a Q-tip in Warford’s pants pocket. Warford told Dearing he had used the syringe earlier and it contained heroin, according to the officer.
Dearing said Bill Gordon authorized a probation hold on Warford. Dearing took Warford to Penobscot County Jail and charged him with theft, possession of drugs and violation of probation.
