Braves earn top ranking Husson golfers best in Northeast

Husson College’s golf program has been ranked No. 1 in the Northeast and 22nd in the country for NCAA Division III programs by Golfstats, which compiles the national collegiate golf statistics for the NCAA.

Four Husson golfers were ranked among the top 19 in the Northeast. Senior Corey Poulin of Jackman is rated first in the region and second in the country for scoring average with a 71.64. He won a school-record six matches last season and led the Braves to their third straight New England Intercollegiate Golf Coaches Championship.

“We had a great year. To be the top-ranked team in the Northeast region is a real credit to our student-athletes and how hard they work,” said Husson coach Bruce MacGregor in a press release. “One of our keys was our depth and Corey led us with a great season.”

James Frost of Calais, a sophomore at the University of Southern Maine, is ranked third in the Northeast with a 74.25 average.

Husson sophomore Ross McGee is ranked seventh among Northeast players with a 76.21 average. Freshman Robby Picard is 16th (78.00) and senior Joe Finemore is 19th (77.79). Husson will play for the North Atlantic Conference Championship in April.
