Beyond the status quo

Again we read of the devastation in the County. Medicare and Medicaid are up with no end in sight, all northern counties are the biggest users of state aid, such as you can get out of the Department of Human Services.

Our governor is doing nothing, The legislators are following right behind him. Department heads are doing nothing. The problem is the governor, who is the leader of the state and has the responsibility to solve these problems.

What the governor lacks is imagination. He has surrounded himself with the status quo, commissioners who were in the last do-nothing administration. They came up with nothing before and will do nothing again.

Problems are solved by innovation, not dead wood. The state can give tax breaks to Wal-Mart but not to small business. Employment means more money to collect for Augusta, but the governor has not found this yet. The northern half of this state has people looking at it with a defeatist attitude, and as long as they do, they will fail in solutions. Maine is a hub waiting to be found, but not with people who believe in the status quo.
