Orland man charged after crash in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – No one was seriously hurt, but an Orland man has been charged with a traffic violation after two vehicles collided Monday morning in the intersection of Buttermilk Road and High Street, according to local police.

Douglas King, 44, of Ellsworth was driving a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck when it was hit around 10:40 a.m. by a 1984 Buick sedan driven by Joseph Poulin, 53, of Orland, according to Ellsworth police Officer Kelvin Mote.

King was turning south onto High Street from Buttermilk Road when Poulin, headed north, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and drove into the driver’s side of the truck, Mote said.

Poulin complained of head pain after the accident, and King complained of neck pain, according to the officer.

Lacey, King’s dog, was with King in the truck at the time and appeared shaken up by the accident but otherwise seemed unharmed, according to bystanders.

The Buick was demolished by the wreck, according to Mote, while the truck had an estimated $6,000 in damage.

Poulin was charged with failure to stop for a red light and failure to provide proof of insurance, Mote said.
