BANGOR – Police said Friday they were still investigating an apparent assault of a 37-year-old Brewer woman who was found in a ditch Wednesday night with a severe head wound.

“We responded to a call of a woman lying in a ditch along the Perry Road at 8:03 p.m.,” Lt. Tim Reid said on Friday. “She is a woman from Brewer. She was transported by Bangor Fire to Eastern Maine Medial Center. She remains hospitalized and is being treated for a head injury.”

Police said Friday they were working on an arrest warrant and would not release the name of a suspect or the victim.

“The investigation has narrowed down to a suspect. The application is being processed,” Reid said. Police are also looking for anyone who was on Perry Road between 7 and 8:30 p.m., particularly the occupants of a light-colored Lincoln Continental that was seen in the area at the time of the assault.

“This Lincoln Continental is no way connected to the assault but [the occupants] may have spoken to the assailant or seen something,” said Reid.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at the Bangor Police Department at 947-7384.
