WATERVILLE – Michael Westbrooks amassed 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists as host Colby College downed crosstown rival Thomas College 90-72 Friday night in the first round of the Colby Men’s Invitational basketball tournament at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Andrew Jenkins added 18 points for Colby, while Nate Dick chipped in with 17 points and Tom Nale had 11 points for the White Mules.
Adam Rich paced the Terriers with 20 points, while James Godley had 17.
In Friday’s first game Grinnell College of Iowa came away with a 147-103 win over St. Joseph’s College. Grinnell attempted 122 shots in the game, including 81 from beyond the 3-point arc.

At Waterville, Sarah Kelly had 17 points and six steals to lead Colby College to a win over Rhode Island College.
Wendy Bonner added nine points and eight rebounds for the Mules, while Laura Williamson sparked Colby with five points, three assists and three steals.
Kari Geisler had eight points and 11 rebounds for RIC.
In the other game of the Colby Women’s Invitational Friday, Grinnell College took a 68-51 victory over Thomas College.
