SKOWHEGAN – A public forum on broadband Internet services will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Skowhegan Community Center.
The forum is expected to draw participants from the county’s business and municipal sector.
“We have invited representatives from a number of broadband Internet service providers and the Public Utilities Commission to discuss the present and near-future conditions of the service in Somerset County,” said James Batey, director of Somerset Economic Development Corp. “We envision that the forum will provide information on what is currently available, planned future services, rate structures, geography issues and a discussion encompassing potential solutions to existing availability and affordability issues,” said Batey.
The workshop is sponsored by the Somerset Economic Development Corp. in conjunction with Somerset Community Development, Kennebec Valley Council of Governments and Occupational Health Research Inc.
Batey encourages anyone who wants to attend to contact him at 484-0166.
